Exploring Montpellier: A day at the lake

DSC_0077

Lac du Crés is a lake that extends over 6 hectares and was formed after a quarry explotation that ended in 1993. There’s space for barbecuing, bike riding, and designated areas to swim in the warm lake water. Also, there’s a small waterfall in which you are not supposed to bathe but, obviously , we did anyways.

This relaxing and beautiful place is just a few minutes away from Montpellier and easily accessible by car or public transport. The tram service in Montpellier has 4 lines and to get to lake du Crés you have to take Line 2 in direction to “Saint Jean De Vedas” , get off at the very last stop and walk for about 10 minutes following the signs and voila!

The lake is perfect for a picnic or barbecue day followed by a splash in the water and sun tanning.

Our day at the lake was the celebration of a friend’s birthday, so we prepared a barbecue and after our bellies were full, we moved from the barbecue area to the bathing zone. We spent the whole day just relaxing and having fun, and left right when the sun was going down which provided us with a beautiful evening view of the lake 🙂
