The Turkish Riviera; Antalya

Antalya is a beautiful Mediterranean beach city and one of the most visited places in Turkey . This  city can compete with any other famous resort town in Europe, as it offers amazing beaches and landscapes, good nightlife and shopping.

Although my stay was just for one night and one day, it was one of my favourite destinations during my Turkey trip and I managed to visit most of the sights and even found time to chill at the beach.

I stayed in Kaleici, which is  the historic city centre . The most charming way to start exploring this part of town is by crossing in through “Hadrian’s Gate”.Once there you will find  lovely bars and restaurants, hotels and souvenir shops.

Kaleici by night is very lively but not in a noisy way, bars are packed and have live music and the atmosphere just feels relaxed and romantic.

Atarturk Boulevard is the place to go for shopping. I was very surprised to see how fashionable all the clothes were, both for men and women, and it was fairly cheap. The boulevard is not only interesting for its shops but also a few bronze statues that are used to decorate the side walks on a very creative way.

I would recommend staying in Antalya for 2 days. This would be enough to enjoy all the beautiful sightseeing and activities that the town offers , as well as a relaxing beach day. I went to Konyaalti beach which is easily reachable by tram and a bit of a walk. It’s one of the most popular beaches but if you’re not a fan of a pebbles beaches, I would suggest going to Lara beach.

I really enjoyed my time in Antalya, I liked the combination of city life with beautiful and peaceful surroundings. For anyone looking for a honeymoon destination, give Antalya some thought 😉

  2. Turkey can simply be described as tourist heaven, where you get to see countless places that will take your breath away. Turkey is the origin of Middle Eastern traditions and cultures. The country is becoming more modernized by the day but they manage to maintain a hint of mystery and ancient tradition which makes this place wonderful for honeymoons.

Many people would not think that a capital city has much to offer when it comes to honeymoon destinations. However, in turkey the situation is quite different. Antalya will leave you spoilt for choice as to which hotel would suit you best. They are just too many to choose from. Apart from hotels, there is also a wealth of attractions to choose from. The best however, would be the Roman Theatre of Aspendos which takes you back in time in the history of the city.

Not many people talk much about Turkey but it is a wonderful place for both tourists and newlyweds to spend their time. The country has a fairly average weather with no extremes meaning you can visit any time of the year and still have a good time, all you need to have are proper travelling documents and a Turkey visa.
